Discover 80’s Miami Festival
Bayside Marketplace invites everyone to celebrate “80’s Miami” from October 10-12, 2024, honoring the vibrant evolution of Miami’s Latin and Caribbean cultures during the pivotal decade that established Miami as the “Gateway to the Americas.” Located at 401 Biscayne Blvd, this three-day festival brings together local partners Pier 5, Biscayne Lady Yacht Cruises, Thriller Miami Speedboat Adventures, and Hardrock Café to spotlight Bayside as Miami’s premier 80’s tropical lifestyle destination.
Held during Hispanic Heritage Month and coinciding with Columbus Day, the festival will highlight Miami’s rich Latin and Caribbean traditions, while also paying tribute to cultural icons of the 1980s who helped shape Miami’s global prominence.

Miami Vice Style Thriller Speedboat Adventure Tour
Hop aboard the Thriller Miami Speedboat for a high-energy tour featuring live commentary and spectacular views of the Miami skyline, Biscayne Bay, Port of Miami, and more. Tickets: $40. - 6:00 PM
Hora Loca Conga at Bayside
Join the Cuban-style Hora Loca, an exhilarating dance spectacle featuring fast-paced music, drummers, and costumed dancers leading a conga line through Bayside. - 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Miami Fandom Party
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Miami Walk of Fame with a party featuring legendary DJ Felix Sama, spinning the best of 80’s Latin, Caribbean, and Miami Vice-inspired dance music. A special tribute to Celia Cruz, the Queen of Salsa, will be a highlight of the evening.

Official Miami Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony
In partnership with the City of Miami and Mayor Francis X. Suarez, a public induction ceremony will honor the 10th anniversary of the Miami Walk of Fame. The event will feature the unveiling of a star designed by renowned Brazilian artist Romero Britto.
Nominated Honorees include:
- NBC’s Miami Vice for its groundbreaking representation of Latin and Caribbean culture.
NBC Universal Miami Vice, television Series, legendary Miami Vice television series, that Latinized Miami in the 80’s. Miami Vice was one of the first mainstream TV shows to showcase Latin and Caribbean culture in a positive and authentic way.
- Legendary Cuban- American Gloria Estefan, a Cuban American singer, actress, and businesswoman. Estefan is an eight-time Grammy Award winner, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient.
- Monty Trainer, Chairman of the Greater Miami Host Committee during the 1980s who positioned Miami as an international destination for art, culture, sports, and diplomacy. His leadership promoted major signature events, including Super Bowl XV (1981) and Super Bowl XXIII (1989), Miss Universe Pageant, 1984, 1985, introducing Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine Miami Grand Prix (1983-1988), Coconut Grove Arts Festival, introducing Romero Britto, and the Big Orange that significantly contributed to Miami’s economic growth and global visibility during this transformative decade. Trainer’s vision and organizational skills helped lay the foundation for Miami’s continued success as a world-class event destination.
By showcasing Master Artists of Latin America and the Caribbean, Monty Trainer helped create opportunities for local Latin American and Caribbean artists in Miami to gain recognition. His efforts brought these artists into the mainstream art community and contributed to a more inclusive, multicultural art scene that reflected the city’s demographics and international ties. The exposure gained through festivals and exhibitions opened doors for these artists, connecting them with collectors, galleries, and international art markets. It also encouraged a dialogue between artists from the U.S. and Latin America, leading to collaborations and cultural exchanges that enriched Miami’s artistic landscape.

Celebrate with 80’s freestyle legend Shannon and DJ Felix Sama at Pier 5. Shannon, known for her hit “Let the Music Play,” will bring the energy of 80’s Miami and its deep Caribbean influences to the stage.

Creativo: Family Day

Pinktober – Hard Rock
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Hard Rock Cafe Miami will participate in Hard Rock International’s PINKTOBER fundraising efforts. Since its inception, Hard Rock has raised over $12 million for breast cancer research, including $1.3 million raised in 2023.
This year, Hard Rock International is kicking off its PINKTOBER efforts with a $100,000 donation to the American Cancer Society, funding advocacy, research and patient support initiatives, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive breast cancer.
